Beijing, 28 September (Argus) — China exported 880,051t of ammonium sulphate (amsul) in August, up by 33pc from July and by 57pc from August 2019, driven by a rise in shipments to Brazil.

China shipped 403,395t to Brazil in August, compared with just 100,215t in July.

Brazil predominantly imports compacted or granular amsul, with its strong demand driving Chinese compacted amsul producers to source standard amsul as a raw material, pushing prices progressively higher during the month.

China exported 1.1mn t of amsul to Brazil over the first eight months of this year, up by 72pc from the same period last year, because of strong agricultural demand.

Shipments to Indonesia also increased to 90,406t in August compared with just 37,360t in July. Deliveries to Myanmar totalled 51,968t in August, while Malaysia took 37,530t from China.

China exported a total of 5.1mn t of amsul during the first eight months of this year, a rise of 13pc from the same period in 2019.
